Chardha Suraj
In a world where countless lives remain in the shadows of poverty, illness, and helplessness, a ray of light can make all the difference. That ray is being provided through the collective efforts of Rotary Eye Bank and the Konvivial Transplantation Society under the leadership of Sanjeev Arora, with the dedicated support of Dr. Manpreet Kaur (SMO) and her team.
On March 16, 2025, during a special ceremony in Hoshiarpur, Dr. Manpreet Kaur was honored for her outstanding contributions toward community healthcare and social responsibility. The event recognized her ongoing service, which previously included her tenure as a Civil Hospital officer and now extends to this impactful NGO initiative.
Deforestation is a major contributor to climate change. By planting trees, we create natural carbon sinks that absorb excess greenhouse gases. Trees cool cities, reduce the urban heat island effect, and help balance local climates.A tree planted today may stand for decades, even centuries. It may shelter children who haven’t yet been born or offer shade to strangers who never knew your name. What could be more meaningful than leaving behind a legacy of life?
Speaking at the event, Dr. Manpreet Kaur shared insights about the Society’s wide-reaching initiatives. Over 4100 individuals have already benefited from the programs, many of whom were once on the brink of losing hope due to poverty and untreated medical conditions.Particularly touching was the story of how blind patients in dire conditions—some without family or resources—were brought into the fold of care, compassion, and medical support. Patients suffering from corneal blindness, in many cases, now have access to treatment and surgeries thanks to the Society’s efforts.
One major issue the team identified was the lack of access to essential medications. As Sanjeev Arora pointed out, even basic medicines that cost just ₹6 are often out of reach for marginalized individuals. The Society is working diligently to fill this gap, ensuring that no patient is left untreated due to financial constraints.
During the felicitation, Chairman J.B. Behl expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Manpreet Kaur for her tireless efforts. He also called on the community to support such initiatives wholeheartedly so the Society can expand its impact even further.Sanjeev Arora emphasized that when Dr. Kaur joined the mission, the Society found new energy, reach, and purpose. He encouraged everyone to not only appreciate but also actively contribute to such noble causes.
The event was attended by respected individuals including Madan Lal Mahajan, Vineet Arora, Jasveer Arora, and Ashwani Datta, all of whom echoed the sentiment that collaboration and compassion are essential for building a healthier society.
